Product Description
Rózsakő is a distinctive Hungarian white wine grape variety, created in 1957 by Hungarian grape breeder Dr. Ferenc Király from a cross between Kéknyelű and Budai Zöld. Originally known as Badacsony 36, the variety was later named after the legendary Rózsakő (“Rose Stone”) on Badacsony Hill. It was officially added to Hungary’s National Variety List in 2003.
Closely associated with the Badacsony wine region, Rózsakő combines good productivity with excellent wine quality. Its wines are typically characterised by lively acidity, floral and spicy aromas and an elegant mineral character.

Growing Characteristics
Rózsakő has medium growth vigour and is strongly associated with the volcanic growing conditions of the Badacsony wine region. It was originally developed partly to serve as a reliable pollinator for Kéknyelű, which has female flowers and requires another compatible variety nearby for effective pollination.
The variety combines good productivity with high-quality fruit, while maintaining a strong acid structure even in warmer and drier vintages. A sunny growing position, regular pruning and appropriate canopy management help achieve balanced yields and optimal ripening. Its combination of Hungarian heritage and distinctive wine character makes Rózsakő particularly appealing to growers looking for a unique Hungarian white wine variety.
