Katalonia

Katalonia is a modern, large-berried table grape variety that has quickly gained popularity thanks to its impressive clusters and harmonious, sweet flavour. Its early to medium-early ripening, high productivity and excellent marketable appearance make it an outstanding choice for both home gardens and commercial cultivation.

Main Characteristics

Ripening time: Early to medium-early, generally ready for harvest in the first to second half of August.
Cluster: Large to very large, loose to moderately compact, typically weighing 700–1500 g, and under favourable conditions may exceed 2 kg.
Berry: Exceptionally large and elongated oval, weighing approximately 14–20 g.
Colour: Yellowish-green, developing an attractive amber to golden-yellow colour when fully ripe in sunny conditions.
Flavour: Pleasantly sweet and harmonious, with crisp, juicy flesh.
Seeds: Contains 2–3 small seeds.

Growing Characteristics

Katalonia is a vigorous and high-yielding variety. Its clusters develop well, while the berries are relatively resistant to cracking and can remain on the vine for an extended period without significant loss of quality. Thanks to its good transportability and attractive appearance, it also has excellent potential for commercial production and market sales.

Resistance and Hardiness

Katalonia has moderate to good disease resistance and can be grown reliably with standard plant protection measures. It has relatively good winter frost tolerance, although winter protection is recommended for young vines.
