Product Description
Zalagyöngye is a Hungarian-bred, resistant dual-purpose grape variety, suitable for both winemaking and fresh consumption. Developed from a cross between Seyve Villard 12-375 and Csabagyöngye, it is valued for its early ripening, high productivity and relatively easy cultivation.
Main Characteristics
Ripening time: Early to medium, generally ripening around early to mid-September.
Berry: Medium-sized, slightly elongated, greenish-yellow, sometimes developing a golden tint on the sunny side.
Cluster: Large, branched and relatively loose.
Flavour: Pleasant, juicy and mildly aromatic.
Wine character: Produces light, fresh and delicately aromatic white wines, and is also suitable for blends and sparkling wine production.
Use: Suitable for white wine production and fresh consumption.

Growing Characteristics
Zalagyöngye is a vigorous, high-yielding and relatively undemanding variety that adapts well to different soils and growing sites. Its loose clusters are less susceptible to bunch rot, and it shows useful resistance to some fungal diseases, although protection against powdery mildew may still be necessary.
