Preobrazsényie Container-Grown Grapevine

Preobrazsényie is an early-ripening table grape variety with exceptionally large berries, developed by Russian breeder Viktor Krainov. Its enormous clusters, striking pink berries and excellent flavour have made it one of today’s most popular premium table grape varieties. It is a vigorous and highly productive variety, making it an excellent choice for both home gardens and commercial cultivation.

Main Characteristics

Ripening time: Early, generally ready for harvest in the first half of August.
Cluster: Very large, conical or cylindrical and moderately loose, typically weighing 800–2000 g, and under favourable conditions may reach 2.5–3 kg.
Berry: Exceptionally large, elongated oval, weighing approximately 14–20 g.
Colour: Light pink, developing a more intense pink colour on the sun-exposed side.
Flavour: Harmoniously sweet and juicy, with crisp flesh and a pleasantly fresh, neutral flavour.
Seeds: Contains 2–3 seeds.

Growing Characteristics

Preobrazsényie is a very vigorous and exceptionally high-yielding variety. It begins bearing fruit at a relatively young age and, with proper care, can produce abundant crops of excellent quality year after year. It performs best in a warm, sunny location, where the berries can reach their characteristic impressive size and develop a high sugar content. The clusters tolerate transportation well and retain their attractive, marketable appearance for a long time, making the variety particularly suitable for commercial production.

Resistance and Hardiness

Preobrazsényie has good frost tolerance, withstanding temperatures down to approximately −23 °C, and offers moderate to good disease resistance. To avoid excessive crop load, cluster thinning is recommended, allowing the berries to develop to an even larger size while helping the shoots mature properly. With regular plant protection and appropriate care, it can be grown reliably and is an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced growers.
