Product Description

Muscat of Hamburg (also known as Black Muscat) is one of the world’s best-known and most popular table grape varieties. Cultivated for more than 150 years, it owes its enduring popularity to its large, dark-coloured berries and intense Muscat aroma. It is excellent for fresh consumption and is also commonly used for grape juice and dessert wine production.

Berry: Large, round or slightly oval, weighing approximately 5–8 g.
Colour: Dark blue to purplish-black, with a pronounced waxy bloom.
Flavour: Intensely Muscat-flavoured and highly aromatic, with a sweet, juicy and rich taste.
Seeds: Contains 2–4 seeds.

Growing Characteristics

Muscat of Hamburg is a vigorous and consistently productive variety. It produces its finest fruit in a warm, sunny location, where the berries can fully develop their characteristic colour, sweetness and aroma. The clusters tolerate transportation well and can be stored for a reasonable period under cool, suitable conditions.

Resistance and Hardiness

Muscat of Hamburg has moderate disease resistance, so regular plant protection is recommended. Its winter frost tolerance is also moderate, therefore in colder regions it is advisable to plant it in a warm, sheltered location.
