Product Description
Kismis Veles is one of today’s most popular seedless table grape varieties. It was developed by Ukrainian breeder Vitaliy Zagorulko and quickly gained popularity across Europe thanks to its excellent flavour, exceptionally large clusters and very early ripening. The variety was named after Veles, the Slavic god associated with fertility.
Main Characteristics
Ripening time: Very early, generally ready for harvest in early August.
Berry: Medium to large and oval, developing an amber-yellow colour with a pinkish hue on the sun-exposed side when fully ripe.
Seeds: Seedless (Class III seedlessness), although small seed traces may occasionally be present.
Cluster: Exceptionally large, conical and loose, typically weighing 800–2000 g, and under favourable conditions may reach up to 3 kg.
Flavour: Very sweet and harmonious, with a subtle Muscat aroma.
Use: Excellent for fresh consumption and also suitable for making raisins.
Key Advantages
- Seedless, making it particularly popular with families and children.
- Very early ripening.
- Produces exceptionally large and impressive clusters.
- Pleasant, subtly Muscat-flavoured taste.
- High-yielding and vigorous growth.
- The berries tolerate transportation well and retain their quality on the vine for an extended period.
Growing Characteristics
Kismis Veles performs best in a warm, sunny location. It is a vigorous variety that can produce exceptionally high yields when provided with a suitable support system and regular pruning. To avoid excessive crop load, cluster thinning is recommended, helping the remaining berries develop to a larger and more uniform size. Thanks to its good frost tolerance, it is also well suited to cultivation in Central European conditions.
