Product Description
Esther is a Hungarian-bred, very early-ripening table grape variety, valued for its excellent frost tolerance, reliable productivity and pleasant flavour. Its dark blue berries ripen very early in the season, making Esther one of the earliest table grape varieties available for harvest.
Main Characteristics
Ripening time: Very early, generally ready for harvest from late July to early August.
Cluster: Medium to large, loose to moderately compact, cylindrical or shouldered, typically weighing 300–700 g.
Berry: Medium to large, round or slightly oval, weighing approximately 5–8 g.
Colour: Dark blue to purplish-black, with a pronounced waxy bloom.
Flavour: Pleasantly sweet and harmonious, with crisp flesh and a subtle Muscat aroma.
Seeds: Contains 2–3 seeds.
Growing Characteristics
Esther is a vigorous and consistently high-yielding variety. Thanks to its very early ripening, it can be harvested as early as late July or early August. The clusters tolerate transportation well, while the berries are relatively resistant to cracking and, under suitable conditions, can remain on the vine for an extended period without significant loss of quality.
Resistance and Hardiness
One of Esther’s greatest advantages is its good frost tolerance and strong disease resistance. It shows above-average tolerance to downy mildew and powdery mildew, making it a particularly attractive and reliable choice for home garden cultivation.
