Black Magic Container-Grown Grapevine

Black Magic is a very early-ripening, dark-berried table grape variety, increasingly popular for its striking appearance, excellent flavour and reliable productivity. Its large, deep purple-black berries have crisp, juicy flesh and a pleasantly sweet flavour. Thanks to its very early ripening, the fruit can be enjoyed as early as mid-summer.

Main Characteristics

Ripening time: Very early, generally ready for harvest from late July to early August.
Cluster: Large, conical and moderately loose, typically weighing 500–1000 g.
Berry: Large, oval or slightly elongated, weighing approximately 8–12 g.
Colour: Dark purple to black, with a pronounced waxy bloom.
Flavour: Harmoniously sweet and juicy, with crisp flesh and a subtle fruity aroma.
Seeds: Contains 1–3 seeds.

Growing Characteristics

Black Magic is a vigorous and consistently high-yielding variety. It produces the best-quality fruit in a warm, sunny location, where the berries develop their deep colour quickly and achieve a high sugar content. The clusters tolerate transportation well and can remain on the vine for an extended period without significant loss of quality.

Resistance and Hardiness

Black Magic has moderate to good disease resistance and can be grown reliably with appropriate plant protection measures. Thanks to its good frost tolerance, it is also well suited to cultivation in Central European conditions.
